I am a Riverina-based visual artist and educational technologist with a dual career spanning fine art and higher education.

Artist

In my graduation exhibition catalogue I wrote of trying to ‘grasp the web of meaning that binds all things’. A little ambitious. Perhaps I’d now say that I attempt to navigate, to map, and perhaps to unravel a few strands of that web. My work deals with the human condition and the boundaries of self, identity, and the objects through which we negotiate relations. I am fascinated by our attempts to understand and describe the world. Like most painters, I also have some interest in formal concerns and the role of the picture plane; more recently, I’ve been rethinking my approach to the painted surface-as-object.

I initially trained in Fine Art printmaking. Throughout my career I have worked as a print technician,  illustrator, and educator.

Educator

As an educator, I work in educational theory, educational technology, and policy and practice in vocational education. I have a special interest in cybersecurity and open source software.

For the last ten years I have been lecturing in Adult and Vocational Education at Charles Sturt University, delivering courses including academic literacy, educational technology, creative arts, sociology, VET policy and practice, and reflective practice.
